City Proper Sizes
Singapore: 6M people, 729 km², 8K people/km²
Jakarta: 10.5M people, 662 km², 16K people/km²
Wi-Fi Spectrum per Unit Area
Singapore: 1.693 MHz / km²
Jakarta: 0.579 MHz / km²
Singapore has about 3x as much Wi-Fi spectrum per unit area. With 6 GHz added, this improves to:
Singapore: 1.693 MHz / km²
Jakarta: 1.334 MHz / km²
Implications
With higher population density and significantly less spectrum allocated per person, Jakarta's Wi-Fi networks are more likely to experience greater congestion, leading to slower speeds and reduced network reliability during peak usage times. This is alleviated with the addition of 6 GHz, for networks with Wi-Fi 6E capable access points. However, additional spectrum in the 5 GHz band would further improve the situation by alleviating congestion on the currently most used band.
